Calcium milk No Help Teens Lose Weight
In a study to more than 40 adolescents who are overweight are then divided into two groups, and were randomly required to consume 1300 or 650 milligrams of calcium per day.
For three weeks, both groups of respondents were given food rations and supervised by three times and two snacks per day. Thus, both groups get adequate food intake with protein, fat, carbohydrates, and also enough calories to maintain their weight.
Upon completion of the study, the researchers ultimately found no significant difference in body weight and body fat between the two groups, which shows calcium is not effective in promoting weight loss. So it can be said, the calcium in milk has little effect or even can not lose weight for teenagers.
"Over the past decade research has said that the calcium binding fat and take some fat out so that you can not absorb it," said Connie Weaver, professor of nutrition at Purdue University expert.
Given this latest study, the researchers hope that the youth continue to take calcium every day. Calcium can be obtained through the frozen yogurt, cheese, or low-fat milk. Instead, they need calcium for bone growth. Although, calcium was not able to help them lose weight.
Experts also advise to lose weight. The teens must ensure that they do not consume too many calories and exercising regularly.
